Who are the remote analysts supporting KR?
The role of a goalkeeper can often feel like the loneliest job on the pitch. But, behind the scenes
at KR, there is a team of remote analysts from across the globe providing more than just moral
support.
At the beginning of 2026, we looked to expand the level of professional support provided to the
goalkeepers across our men's, women’s and youth teams. The mission was to help each
goalkeeper with their own development through individualised video analysis feedback.
Alongside the coaching on the pitch, each goalkeeper would have access to more analytical
input off-the-pitch.
While the biggest clubs in world football have huge analysis departments, it required an
innovative solution to deliver such an ambitious project here at KR. Earlier this year, we
collaborated with Beltagy Football Analysis Services (BFAS) to recruit, train and onboard a team
of promising Analyst Interns. During the training programme, BFAS hosted a series of webinars
with KR Goalkeeper/Assistant Coach, Jamie Brassington. Upon completion of this programme,
successful interns were selected to work alongside our teams. The Analysis Team represents
diverse backgrounds and comes from around the world.

These dedicated Analyst Interns have been working remotely with our club to deliver elite-level
analysis provision. It is not only our goalkeepers who have benefited from their work. The
analysts also help our teams to prepare for upcoming games. As part of their role, they provide
video clips, insights into upcoming opponents and review our own performances both
individually and collectively. This information is then broken down by the staff at the club and
used within team meetings, as well as aiding in session design/planning for each game and the
development of individual players. Each intern works with Metrica Sports analysis software,
provided by BFAS, to complete the work for their respective team.
Jamie Brassington, KR Goalkeeper/Assistant Coach, stated:
“The process of training and mentoring the Analyst Interns was a cornerstone of this
programme, so that each Analyst understood our club philosophy and the profile of GKs that we
want to develop.”
“This training process was facilitated by the excellent team at BFAS. Their knowledge,
professionalism and attention to detail allowed the process to be a very successful one. As a
student of their Elite Coach Set-Pieces Course, I highly recommend coaches/analysts to check
out the range of educational courses they provide.”
The Analyst Interns have been working on different roles for the club, including opposition
analysis, set-piece analysis & individual player analysis. Jamie commented: “We’ve had many
analysts working for the club this season, undertaking meaningful roles that were broken down
into specific manageable workloads. This has been key to the quality and detail of the analysis
produced. Their work has made an important contribution to the level of analysis we can now
provide both individually and collectively at the club.”
One of the Analyst Interns from this programme is Jackson Brandwene. He has been supporting
our men’s first team with goalkeeper analysis. Jackson is from the USA and was educated at
Wilmington University. Alongside his internship with KR, he is working full time with Charlotte
Independence as Director of Goalkeeping - North. His link to KR dates back to 2019 when
Jackson visited Iceland and became a fan of the club following his trip. Reflecting on his
experience as an intern so far, he said:
“When I transitioned from my playing career to coaching, I had the goal of getting involved in
Icelandic football. Earlier this year, I joined the GK department, where I break down goalkeeping
moments post-match with both technical and tactical focuses.”
“Prior to the start of the season, Jamie hosted online training courses through Beltagy Football
Analysis Services. These covered the structure of the KR goalkeeping department, the style of
play, how they use video analysis to further the development of their goalkeepers, and how to
use the software to conduct the analysis. The sessions provided valuable insight into the club’s
processes and how to approach the analysis in a way that is both efficient and useful to the
department. They also gave me the foundation I needed to use the software effectively and
transition into the role.”
“The experience this year working with Jamie and the KR GK department has been incredible.
I’ve really enjoyed being able to connect with the staff, learn how the department operates, and
contribute to the work being done throughout the season. Working with Jamie has also given me
the opportunity to learn from his approach to goalkeeping analysis and gain a better
understanding of how video can support goalkeeper development. It has been a valuable
professional experience, and, from a personal point of view, a genuinely exciting opportunity to
contribute to a club I have followed and supported from a distance for several years.”
