KR Gold Tournament 2026
KR Gold tournament will be held for the nineteenth time in Laugardalslaug ( Sundlaugavegur 105, 105 Reykjavík) February 13th to 15th The tournament is open to all age groups, with 60 events in 5 sections, in addition to the KR Super Challenge swimming competition on Saturday evening. As before, competitors will be offered accommodation and food at Laugalækjarskóli (school ) approximately 100 meters from competition venue) during the tournament.
KR SUPER CHALLENGE
On Friday as a part of the normal tournament schedule there will be prelims in 50m fly where the 8 fastest swimmers in the age groups
· Open age group
· 16–18-year-olds
· 13–15-year-olds
· 12-year-old and younger
Will proceed to the KR Super challenge on Saturday evening , where music, swimming, and a light show will play a major role.
Swimmers in open age group will compete with an elimination system where we go from 8 fastest to 5 fastest and finally the 3 fastest swimmers compete for the podium and price money.
In the open age group category the price money is:
1st place in the KR Super Challenge 30,000 ISK
2nd place in the KR Super Challenge 20,000 ISK
Medals
In the 100m and 200m events, medals will be awarded in the following age groups:
• 12 years and younger
• 13 years
• 14 years
• 15 years
• 16 years and older
In the 50m events, medals will be awarded in the open category (except for the 50m butterfly where prizes will be awarded according to the KR Superchallenge rules)
Prizes in the 400m events and relays will be awarded in the following age groups:
• 12 years and younger
• 13-15 years
• 16 years and older
In addition, all juniors (10 years and under) will receive participation medals.
Special prizes will be awarded for those who swim in .00 time (a full second).

PRIZE MONEY
Prize money will be paid for the following results:
National record: 25,000 ISK.
The three highest scoring individuals for a total of three best swims:
1st place 15,000 ISK. 2nd place 10,000 ISK. 3rd place 5,000 ISK.
Tournament Records: Best time in an event in the open category: 5,000 ISK.
Age group tournament records: Special awards (maximum 3 awards per individual).
Attendance at the award ceremony is mandatory
If a swimmer or club representative does not attend the award ceremony, the swimmer will forfeit the prize money
EVENTS
• On Friday, the open category will be competed in all 50-meter events and the age groups in 400 m Medley.
• On Friday, the minimum age of competitors is 11 years.
• The minimum age of competitors in events 200 m and longer is 11 years.
• The tournament will have a overhead start in several events, which means that a heat may be started before the competitors in the previous heat have left the pool.
Schedule
February 13th.
- Part 1 warm-up at 15:30 competition 16:30 Open category.
February 14th.
- Part 2 warm-up at 8:00 competition at 9:00 13 years and older.
- Part 3 warm-up at 14:00 competition at 15:00 12 years and younger.
- KR Super Challenge, at 19:45-21:15. Warm-up begins at 19:00
- Finals from Friday evening in 50 m Butterfly in four age groups.
February 15th.
- Part 4 warm-up at 08:00 competition at 09:00 12 years and younger
- Part 5 warm-up at 13:00 competition at 14:00 13 years and older
Age is based on the year of birth of the competitor
NOTE: The tournament manager reserves the right to limit participation in individual tournament sections so that the tournament schedule can be met. Timely registrations may give priority to the tournament.

REGISTRATION – INFORMATION
The registration deadline is midnight on Monday, February 2nd and the deadline for withdrawals and changes is Monday 9th February.

REGISTRATION FEE
Registration fee is 900 ISK for each entry in individual events and 1400 ISK. for relays
Late entry fee is 1200 ISK each entry in individual events
Fees will be charged according to the number of registrations in the tournament on Thursday evening, February 12th.
Laugalækjarskóli - ACCOMMODATION
As at previous KR tournaments, swimmers will be offered excellent accommodation at a Laugalækjarskóli (44WC+XFR, Sundlaugavegur, 105 Reykjavík) . Laugalækjarskóli is about 100m from Laugardalslaug (competition venue)
All facilities are exemplary, including a dining room for 150 people. Participants must bring a mattress or air mattress to sleep on and a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow.
All food will be served at Laugalækjaskóli. There will be a 24-hour guard at the school. All competitors' luggage will be their responsibility during the tournament.
Note! Food intolerance
If you have special dietary requirements due to food intolerance, please notify us when booking your accommodation.
The price of accommodation is 17,500 ISK.
The following is included in the accommodation:
- Food: two dinners, two lunches, two breakfasts and evening refreshments on Saturday evening.

Food and drinks at Laugardalslaug
KR shop on the second floor at the swimming pool will offer light meals, sandwiches, fruit, energy drinks, coffee and juices, among many other things. The shop has a great view of the swimming pool area.
